VALPARAISO | A former employee of a Burns Harbor trucking company was charged with a felony count of possessing child pornography after a memory card containing an illegal video was found in his company vehicle.
Luis Gomez, 36, of Elmhurst, N.Y., had not yet turned himself in at the jail by late Tuesday morning, according to the county sheriff's department.
A state police officer said he was notified by a relative about the memory card found in the vehicle at CR England Trucking Co. at 321 Tech Drive.
The truck in question had been used by Gomez up until he was fired in an unrelated matter, according to charging information.
A contracted employee of the business said he was conducting repairs on the inside of the vehicle Oct. 17 when he took a memory card he found for personal use, according to police. He found an adult pornographic video on the card and another pornographic video involving an adult man and two girls he guessed to be 7 to 9 years old.
The employee reportedly told police the man on the video resembles Gomez, but he was not certain.
