CHESTERTON | Citing drainage concerns, the Town Council delayed action on a resident's request to install an aqua-therapy pool at his residence.
Thomas Biedron asked the board for a vacation of a drainage easement to build the pool, which he needs for conditioning after a spinal cord injury.
Councilman Jeff Trout said department heads had written a letter of concern about the request that mentioned the potential for future drainage problems to neighbors, along with other questions that need to be answered.
Many department heads were missing Monday night when storm damage left many of them responding to emergency situations.
Trout suggested waiting until the department heads were present at the next meeting for a proper discussion before making a decision.
Beidron said the delay would be detrimental to his health and asked for a copy of the concerns, which was provided.
Trout made the motion to move the public hearing to the next meeting with Emerson DeLaney seconding and the board voting unanimously with James Ton absent.
Also, during a public hearing portion of the meeting, three residents supported a petition to vacate a public way adjacent to their residences on South Jackson Boulevard, which the council approved.
