Each fall, the Chesterton High School US History students travel back in time to the 1860s to learn about the daily lives of men and women who fought during the American Civil War. Students learn about the uniforms, gear and equipment worn by soldiers on both sides of the conflict, they hear about the grisly medical conditions facing the Civil War wounded, eat hard tack and salt pork, and listen to the report from two Civil War era rifles.
