CHESTERTON | The Chesterton Art Center will sponsor the 2014 ARTour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
A variety of downtown Chesterton businesses will house a working artist showcasing an art form. Some of the artists involved in this year's event include Richard Church (watercolor painter), Mark Montgomery (glass sun dials), Ken Goodman (oil painter), MaryAnn Gradisher (mixed media), MaryAnn Pals (pastels), Chris Acton (weaving), Bill Howes (metal art), Mara Wible (jewelry), Mary Acton (pysanky eggs), Judy Gregurich (stained glass), June Krsek (watercolor painting), Lyn Wellsand (painting), and Ewell Lovell (blacksmithing).
Local businesses involved in the event include Tonya's Patisserie, Spike and Buddy's, O'Gara & Wilson Booksellers, Hopkin's Ace Hardware, Stephanie Swanson Jewelry Design, Chelle's, Ella's Bella, The Flower Cart, Hugh's Small Engine Repair, Red Cup and Framing Concepts. Guests are welcome to visit a few, or all of the stores to watch the artists creating interesting pieces of art. Maps with a list of artists and businesses will be available at the Chesterton Art Center, along with each participating shop.
During ARTour, Danielle Volkman will be teaching a Tissue Paper Mosaic class at the Chesterton Art Center from 1 to 2 p.m. for children ages 8-12. The cost of class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. To register for the children's class, call the Art Center at (219) 926-4711. The Chesterton Art Center is located at 115 S. 4th St.
