During the month of October, Mara Wible will teach a different beginning jewelry class each Wednesday at the Chesterton Art Center. Classes begin at 7 p.m. and supplies are included.
Wible will host a Wavy Chain Bracelet class on Oct. 2. This bracelet class is an introduction to the Japanese family of chain maille. It is a modification to the 2- in-1 weave technique. The class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
On Oct. 9, the Art Center has a Bugle Bead Bracelet class scheduled. With a flat, even count peyote stitch, participants can combine bugle and seed beads to make a bracelet. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
Mara will offer a Crochet with Wire Bracelet class on Oct. 16. Students will learn how a basic crochet stitch is used to create a delicate piece of wearable art, which will result in something distinctively different every time. The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
Beginning Wire Loop Bracelet will be held on Oct. 23 . Participants will master the process of wrapping loops to join beads together, creating a beautiful bracelet. Class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
And on Oct. 30, Wible will be offering Beginning Stringing. In this class, students will learn to create a bracelet using flexible wire, crimps and the crimping tools. The cost of the class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
