CHESTERTON | Mara Wible will offer a different jewelry class each Tuesday during March at the Chesterton Art Center.
On March 5 she'll be hosting a Beach Glass/Found Object Wrapping class at 5:15 and 7 p.m. Students will learn how to transform a piece of beach glass or a special found object into a wire wrapped pendant. Each student can bring their own items or choose from the instructor's stash. There will be time to make two pendants each. The cost of the class is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
A Full Persian Chain Maille Bracelet class will be offered at 5:15 and 7 p.m. March 12. This bracelet originates from an old chain maille weave and is the basis for other chain maille techniques. Students who have flat nose or bent nose pliers are encouraged to bring them to class. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
A Beaded Wheel Pendant class will be offered at 7 p.m. March 19. Using a variation of the netting stitch, students will learn to make a beaded circle. There are endless possibilities when incorporating these wheels into jewelry designs or wearing them as beautiful pendants to compliment an outfit. The price of the class is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
At the end of the month, Mara will host a Wavy Chain Bracelet class at 7 p.m. March 26. This bracelet class is a wonderful introduction to the Japanese family of chain maille. It is a modification to the 2- in-1 weave technique. The class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
Supplies are included for these classes. Each class will last approximately 2 hours. To register or for information, call Chesterton Art Center at (219) 926-4711 or visit 115 S. 4th St.
