Chicks for a Cure to hold bunco event

PORTER | Chicks for a Cure, a team for this year's American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Duneland, will hold its first Roll For A Cure bunco event on Feb. 25.

Registration will begin at 5:45 p.m., with bunco beginning at 6:15 p.m. at Hawthorne Park Community Center, 500 Ackerman Drive. A donation of $15 per player will be collected and all of the proceeds will go to Relay for Life of Duneland. For tickets or more information, call Wendy Mang at (219) 241-2348 or wendymng@yahoo.com. This year's Relay will be held from noon July 14 to 6 a.m. July 15 at Chesterton Middle School, 651 W. Morgan Ave., Chesterton. During Relay For Life, teams camp out overnight and take turns walking a track in an effort to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer. This year marks the seventh year for Relay For Life of Duneland. At the event, the Luminaria and Survivor Ceremonies offer people a time to remember those who have died and those who have won the battle, while the Fight Back Ceremony gives everyone a chance to make a personal commitment to take action against cancer throughout the year.
