CHESTERTON | Westchester Public Library’s free concert and family film series continues on Friday at the Bandstand in Thomas Park with Kurt Michael’s eclectic rock music. The concert will be followed by the film "The Lorax" at dusk, about 8 p.m. Those who attend these events are invited to bring lawn chairs and picnics, blankets and bug spray. In the case of rain, both events will be offered in the Library Service Center on the corner of Indiana Avenue and Calumet Road. Popcorn and soda will be sold by members of the Chesterton-Porter Rotary.
Kurt Michaels is a singer/songwriter based out of Chicago. Michaels is a touring veteran who has enjoyed a successful career as a musical contractor and band leader for many well-known rock acts, such as Spencer Davis, Otis Day, The Temptations, The Platters, and many more.
The animated adventure "The Lorax," based on the book by Dr. Seuss, follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams.
The summer concert and family film series will continue at the Thomas Park Bandstand on Friday, July 5. "Songs of the Great Lakes" by Lee Murdock, followed by the film "The Pirates! Band of Misfits."
