CHESTERTON | The Duneland school board on Thursday approved the appointment of Dr. David Pruis as the new superintendent of schools.
President Michael Trout said Pruis, the current assistant superintendent, was selected due to his experience as an administrator, financial expertise, and professionalism with the board. Members John Marshal, Kristin Kroeger, and board vice-president Ralph Ayres spoke in support of his fiscal experience and state-wide respect.
“We wanted someone with the same heart that Dr. (Dirk) Baer has,” said Kroeger, referring to the current superintendent.
Kroger officially made the motion to have Pruis take his new post effective July 1, which met with unanimous approval.
Pruis began his work with the Duneland School Corp. in January 2003 when he was hired as assistant superintendent after coming to the area from Hamilton County where he served for 11 years as superintendent.
