CHESTERTON | Mara Wible will offer a different jewelry class each Tuesday during the month of April at the Chesterton Art Center. Each class will last approximately two hours.
On April 2, she will teach Beginning Stringing at 5:15 and 7 p.m. Students will learn to create a bracelet using flexible wire, crimps and the crimping tools. Wible will discuss the use of different materials — including when, where and why to use which ones. This starter skill can be used when creating necklaces, bracelets and much more. The fee is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
Beach Glass/Found Object Wrapping will be offered at 5:15 and 7 p.m. April 9. Wible will instruct students how to transform a piece of beach glass or special-found object into a wire-wrapped pendant. Participants are welcome to bring something of theirs or choose from the stash provided during class. Students will have time to complete two pendants. The class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
On Tuesday, April 16 at 5:15 and 7 p.m., Wible will teach Celtic Chain Maille Earrings. Participants will learn how to make two pairs of Celtic line earrings. The technique uses jump rings to form circles within circles. Fee is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
A Byzantine bracelet class will be offered at 7 p.m. April 23. The Byzantine chain is considered a four-in-one technique. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
On April 30 a Russian snake seed bead bracelet class will be held at 7 p.m. Seed beads surround Czech glass in this variation on the daisy chain. The fee is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
