Adults and Young Adults who are interested in learning the fundamentals of drawing, or expanding the drawing knowledge they already have, are invited to attend one of three drawings programs, based on the newly released Readers Digest book: "Drawing and Sketching Secrets...", taught by its author and artist Donna Krizek, at Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Ave., in July and August. Registration is required and is underway. Materials will be provided by the library.
Start from the beginning of the book and learn the basics and fundamentals of realistic, three-dimensional drawing in Introductory Drawing & Sketching Secrets for Adults. The class will have five sessions from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. on July 29, 30, 31, and Aug. 12 and 15. The young adult classes will take place from 2:45 to 5 p.m. the same days. Attendees will learn how to choose, organize, and hold drawing tools correctly, what to consider when choosing what to draw to the “Line” drawing techniques of gesture and contour, and on to “Mass” and “Chiaroscuro” (illumination and shadow).
Drawing and Sketching Secrets for Adults, Level 2 will take place on the same five dates, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Krizek will delve deeper into the same book, including application of “Line” and “Mass” drawing, more advanced drawing techniques, and composition planning and development. The Introduction to Drawing class is not a prerequisite for this class for those who are experienced in drawing and painting.
