Meeting set to discuss Chesterton's portion of planned Dunes Kankakee Trail
CHESTERTON | The Chesterton Dunes Kankakee Trail Steering Committee and contracting firm SEH, of Indiana, will host a meeting to gather public feedback on the proposed Dunes Kankakee Trail through Chesterton.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Chesterton Town Hall, 726 Broadway.
The public can learn about and weigh in on the proposed trail. The meeting is part of a broader Trail Corridor Feasibility Study for Chesterton conducted by SEH to identify a preferred alignment for the town's portion of the Dunes Kankakee Trail. The proposed north-south multi-use trail would link Indiana Dunes State Park and the Kankakee River.
The study will identify rights-of-way needs, areas of concern, cultural and natural resources, and required permits and costs, and it will serve as a resource for engineering design.
