CHESTERTON | Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., is an official Collection Center for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse that collects gift-filled shoeboxes and delivers them to children living in poverty around the world.
Kids, families, schools, churches and community groups participate by filling shoe boxes with school supplies, hygiene items, clothing, toys, hard candy and letters of encouragement.
Each shoe box is considered a Gospel Opportunity because the recipient is offered a 12-lesson discipleship program called The Greatest Journey.
Trained local Christian teachers using colorful workbooks supplied by Samaritan’s Purse teach the Bible to children. Through the ministry of Operation Christian Child more than 10 million children have been discipled since 1993.
Empty shoeboxes and/or brochures are available at any of the Liberty Bible Church entryways. The brochure inside the box will include boy/girl tags, ideas of items to put in the boxes and instructions on how to pack them.
