Woman arrested after striking mo-ped
CHESTERTON | A woman was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license Saturday afternoon after police said she struck a mo-ped.
Two juveniles on the mo-ped were transported to a local hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
According to the police report, officers were called to the intersection of 12th Street and Indiana Avenue about 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
Milissa Lynn Beale, 34, of 1131 Vine St., Porter, told police she was northbound on 12th Street, came to a stop at the intersection, but did not see the mo-ped and proceeded.
The juvenile driving the mo-ped told police Beale, who was driving a Jeep Commander, stopped at the stop sign, then quickly moved forward and struck her mo-ped, throwing her and her passenger to the ground.
Beale already had an outstanding warrant in Porter County for driving while suspended.
Man reports windows broken in cars
CHESTERTON | A resident of the 1000 block of Kathryn Court, reported to police Friday someone had broken out windows on two cars overnight. The damage was estimated at $600.
GPS stolen from vehicle
CHESTERTON | A resident of the 700 block of Oakwood Drive reported to police Friday evening someone had stolen a GPS unit from the center console of his vehicle sometime between Aug. 18 and Friday. The unit was valued at $200.
Bicycles reported stolen
CHESTERTON | A resident of the 500 block of Windridge Drive reported to police Sunday afternoon a bicycle valued at $600 was stolen from a garage. The man told police he had left his garage door open on Saturday and assumed the silver Jano GT Nomad bike was taken then.
