CHESTERTON | The Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve is hosting Stewardship Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Pavilion, 157 E. Sidewalk Road.
During this event, participants will monitor the quality of water at Coffee Creek to keep track of what bugs and other life are in the water.
This event lets families get outdoors and participate in a stewardship activity where everyone can help out and learn at the same time. Since Coffee Creek has the healthiest creek in all of Indiana, it is important to keep it clean and ensure clean drinking water for our community.
“Stewardship Saturdays is a great way for families to work side by side making a difference in the environment and working in the creek,” said Executive Director Katie Rizer of Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve.
Register by emailing Rafi Wilkinson at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (219) 926-1842 by Friday. Registration is free and recommended.
Ivy Tech and Indiana University Northwest students just began a regular water-monitoring program that will continue for the next year. This Stewardship Saturday event will be open to the public and no experience is necessary.
