CHESTERTON | Artist Karin Eisermann will display her work in an exhibit titled, "Sunsets and More" at the Chesterton Art Center from July 3 to August 10. The Closing Reception will be held on Saturday, August 10 from 2-4. Karin works mostly in oils and pastels, tackling subject matter ranging from abstract to landscape to figurative paintings. Previously from this area, she currently splits her time between Florida and Ohio. Living in Florida has provided Karin with a wide variety of inspiration including the colorful sunsets and palm trees.
Karin's favorite quote is from Picasso, "You expect me to tell you what art is? If I knew, I would keep the knowledge to myself." She says that "this sentence describes my relationship to art in some way. I'm searching and looking and trying out new things all the time. Along the way, I do find all kinds of answers: discoveries of myself, my preferences, dislikes, what gives me pleasure and why."
Karin continually attempts to create art that speaks to her audience and portrays her emotions. "The real challenge for me is to be able to express my own feeling to the viewer of my paintings. I'm therefore not so much interested in painting what I see, but more in painting what I felt when I saw or understood."
