CHESTERTON – More than three thousand holiday shoppers flocked to Chesterton’s Mistletoe Market this past Saturday, December 7. Held in Westchester Intermediate School (WIS), the event featured the holiday collections of 92 merchants – vendors who were selected from the ranks of those who attended Chesterton’s European Market during the 2013 season. In addition to filling both WIS gyms and an adjoining hallway with merchants, decorations and music, event coordinators offered an outdoor food bazaar for shoppers who needed a snack or break from the indoor crowds.
Mistletoe Market is coordinated by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce. “We’re very pleased with how this event has grown over the years,” says Heather Ennis, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “We welcomed a few more merchants this year than last, and the response was extremely positive. The weather wasn’t as accommodating as last year, but we still enjoyed an extraordinary crowd of more than 3,000 shoppers and their families. At the end of the day, several of our merchants reported that they broke all previous sales records for this event, and a couple even shared that they had the best day of sales ever for their businesses.”
Several Chamber members participated in this year’s Mistletoe Market, including Alice’s Garden Toy Boutique, Ben’s Soft Pretzel, Butler Winery, Chelles’, East Wind Acupuncture, Espress Yourself, Good to Go by Lucrezia, Harvest Circle Workshop, Hot Diggity Dawg, Ivy’s Catering & Cakes, Kernels & Kones, Lehman’s Orchard, Pa’s Work Shop, Rita Jackson Sculptor, Simplify, and The Rolling Stonebaker.
