VALPARAISO | Residents of unincorporated Porter County are reminded that it is illegal to leave vehicles parked on the side of uncleared roads after a snowfall of 2 inches or more.

While county police will make an effort to contact the owner of a vehicle to have it moved, any vehicles remaining on the street will be towed and owners will face a fine of $50, said Sgt. Larry LaFlower of the Porter County Sheriff's Department.

Subdivisions where this problem most often occur include Shorewood Forest, South Haven and Salt Creek Commons, he said.
