CHESTERTON | Northwest Indiana’s only improv comedy group is offering an 8-week improvisation workshop for adults beginning on Sept. 8.
The workshops will meet at the Fourth Street Theater on Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Oct. 27.
“Our improv comedy classes have been filled with students from across Northwest Indiana since we started offering them last year. The interest in improv comedy is growing, especially with the return of shows like “Whose Line is it Anyway? on television.” said Bob Craig, the director of Disposable Theatre and instructor for the classes.
“Improv is a skill that can be of value in any career. From the corporate world to the stage, improv can help you become more confident in front of groups, learn to think on your feet and develop a more humorous outlook on life.”
These workshops cover the basics of improvisation; creating scenes, building your understanding of improvisation and performance games and stimulating your creativity. There will be more advanced classes offered in the future and there may be performance opportunities with Disposable Theatre.
Tuition for the workshop is $100 and class size is limited to a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12 students. This class is for adults (college-age and up) only please.
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to register for the class or to ask any questions regarding the class.
The workshops will be taught by Bob Craig. Craig has been teaching, studying and performing improv for more than 20 years. He has studied at The Second City Conservatory program and at IO (formerly ImprovOlympic) and performed with Broad Shoulders Productions and TheatreSports in Chicago. He is the director and founder of Disposable Theatre.
