CHESTERTON | The Duneland Weaver’s Guild will present its annual Fiber Art Exhibit at the Chesterton Art Center from April 3 to the end of the month at the center, 115 S. Fourth St. The opening reception will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday April 7 with the fashion show beginning at 2 p.m.
The fashion show will include a variety of garments created by the Weaver’s Guild members that showcase weaving, knitting, crocheting and felting techniques. The wearable art will encompass everything from hats and handbags, to jackets and scarves.
The Fiber Art Exhibit will feature wall hangings, blankets, table runners, placemats, hand towels, rugs, etc. - plus the garments and accessories featured in the Fashion Show. Most items will be for sale.
This year, the Duneland Weaver’s Guild President’s Challenge is to create something from a plant fiber - cotton, linen, bamboo, jute, etc. Members of the Guild will display the pieces they created using the President’s Challenge guidelines. Guests will be encouraged to vote for their favorite item.
The Duneland Weaver’s Guild is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. Over the years, the group has provided an encouraging and creative environment for the members to learn new techniques and envision new projects related to weaving and other fiber-related art forms. The Duneland Weaver's Guild meets from September to May on the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Westchester Library Service Center in Chesterton.
