CHESTERTON | Mara Wible will offer a different jewelry class each Tuesday during the month of April at the Chesterton Art Center. Each class will last approximately 2 hours.
On April 2, she will teach Beginning Stringing at 5:15 and 7 p.m. In this class, students will learn to create a bracelet using flexible wire, crimps and the crimping tools. Mara will discuss the use of different materials - including when, where and why to use which ones. This starter skill can be utilized when creating necklaces, bracelets and much more.
Beach Glass/Found Object Wrapping will be offered on Tuesday, April 9 at 5:15 and 7 p.m. Mara will instruct students on how to transform a piece of beach glass or special found object into a beautiful wire wrapped pendant. Participants are welcome to bring something of theirs or choose from the stash provided during class. Students will have time to complete two pendants.
On Tuesday, April 16 at 5:15 and 7 p.m., Mara will teach Celtic Chain Maille Earrings. Participants will learn how to make two pairs of Celtic line earrings. The technique uses jump rings to form circles within circles to create stylish, appealing designs.
A Byzantine Bracelet class will be offered on Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. The Byzantine chain is considered a 4 in 1 technique, meaning one chain passes through four others to create a supple, flexible, gracefully draping chain - great for bracelets!
On April 30 at 7 p.m., a Russian Snake Seed Bead Bracelet class will offered. Seed beads surround Czech glass in this elegant variation on the daisy chain, also known as the Russian snake chain.
The fee for all classes is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
