LIBERTY TOWNSHIP | Two South Haven men were arrested after police said they took, then returned, items from the Mink Lake Campground, 658 N. Calumet Ave.
Steven Crews, 26, and Thomas Ivey II, 26, were arrested and charged with theft.
Police were called about 12:45 p.m. Thursday to Mink Lake. The caller said two men in a white pickup truck had just left the property.
The caller told officers that two friends had seen Crews and Ivey at Mink Lake taking items. When the caller arrived, the two were driving off in a white pickup truck. The caller followed them and eventually confronted the pair, telling them they needed to return the items, or he would call police.
The two took the items back to Mink Lake, but police were called.
The caller told police he tried to block their exit until police arrived, but the two drove through a grassy area and left.
Police spotted the white pickup truck and arrested both men.
The caller said the two had taken a metal boat trailer and an old chain link gate.
The two had said they had permission to take the items, but the owner of the property told police they didn't have permission and she did not know them.
