VALPARAISO | A 26-year-old Chesterton man faces a misdemeanor count of criminal recklessness on allegations of running his car into a woman's truck as the two were meeting to discuss their relationship problems.
The victim told police she pulled into the parking lot at Liberty Bible Church in Liberty Township shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday with her son and others when Christopher Hanrath drove into the lot and began circling her with his vehicle.
As she attempted to drive away, Hanrath ran his vehicle into her truck, police said.
She told police she drove to the intersection of North Calumet Road and U.S. 6 where Hanrath cut off her vehicle with his own, got out and began yelling "Why can't we go back to being us?" and "I love you, you will never see me again."
Hanrath reportedly told police he was enraged and "just went AWOL."
