CHESTERTON - The Porter County Community Foundation recently presented a 2013 Community Fund grant check to Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry, which enabled the nonprofit organization to purchase a commercial refrigerator. This purchase will allow the pantry to store more seasonal produce and dairy products. The Westchester Food Pantry serves 140 - 150 families every two weeks and the large refrigerator will give them the capacity to receive more donations in advance of its distribution days.
The Foundation strengthens the work of nonprofits through grants and programs designed to help them do their work better. In 2012, the Foundation was able to provide more than $1.8 million in grants, investing in critical services for individuals and families throughout Porter County.
The Foundation inspires giving and engages our community to improve lives in Porter County now and forever. To learn more, call 219-465-0294 or visit online at www.portercountyfoundation.org.
