Man arrested in connection with Chesterton robbery
CHESTERTON | Police arrested a Jackson Township man Tuesday in connection with the April 25 robbery of the Speedway gas station, 752 Indian Boundary Road.
Jason Scott Mitchell, 32, of 508 East 900 North, was taken into custody without incident at his home, according to police. He was transported to Porter County Jail and charged with felony robbery.
Mitchell is accused of robbing the gas station at 3:14 a.m Thursday, April 25.
According to the police report of the incident, a man, now identified as Mitchell, had come into the store about 15 minutes before the robbery and bought a candy bar. When he came back in, he went to the counter and demanded the money from the register. He threatened the clerk with physical violence if she did not comply, according to the report. He left the station on foot with an unknown amount of money.
