Drain covers stolen
VALPARAISO | Six steel storm drain covers were reported stolen Saturday from the Courtyards at Pepper Creek.
The covers, which read "East Jordan Iron Works," are valued at $600 each, police said.
Best Buy clerk charged with theft
VALPARAISO | A 19-year-old employee at the local Best Buy store was arrested Saturday on accusations of stealing money and items from the store.
Adrieanna Davis-Coco, of 227 Sunlite Court in Portage Township, reportedly told police she stole the items to help pay rent.
She admitted to taking three Xbox 360 video games valued at a total of $150, police said. The total loss was valued at $660.
She is charged with felony theft.
Cubs tickets stolen
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP | A man reported the theft Friday of two Chicago Cubs game tickets from inside his vehicle parked outside his home in the 400 block of Amber Drive.
The theft occurred sometime after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, said the homeowner, who found no damage and was unsure if the vehicle had been locked.
The bleacher tickets were for 10 separate games May 30; June 12; July 6, 14 and 29; Aug. 1, 3, 13 and 17; and Sept. 25, according to county police.
Soccer field vandalized
VALPARAISO | St. Paul Catholic Church reported a soccer field had been vandalized. Police observed tire tracks on the field. Damage was valued at $500.
Woman reports attempted home break-in
CHESTERTON | A woman said someone forced open her back door while she was at home.
Police said the woman, who lives in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue, told police she was walking down the stairs near the door, when it was kicked open. She told police she screamed and pushed the door closed and then called 911.
The woman said she did not see the person who tried to get into her home. Police said there was another call in the area of someone banging on a door. Police said they found a man without shoes running in the neighborhood. The man was questioned, but not arrested.
