A beach hazards statement issued Tuesday warning of life-threatening rip currents at Lake Michigan beaches continues through 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The beach hazards statement covers Lake, Porter and LaPorte County beaches along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
National Weather Service forecasters are warning beach-goers to stay out of the water.
Rip currents are channels of water flowing quickly away from shore that can sweep swimmers out into the lake. Structural currents along piers also can create the same conditions.
