CHESTERTON | The Indiana Dunes State Park sponsors "Howl"oween events Oct. 25 through Oct. 27.
Most “Howl”oween activities will occur on Oct. 26, although all three days offer special programs, including nightly owl-banding demonstrations at the nature center.
The campground will host special activities for campers on Saturday, including a campsite decorating contest from 4 to 7 p.m. and trick-or-treating from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday night picks up with spooky hikes into the dunes and hayrides through the campgrounds. Visitors can choose from two night-hike options. Registration is required for each hike. Register in person after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the nature center. Children under 12 must bring a parent.
Hayride tickets cost $2 and will be sold at the campground gate throughout the day.
All other activities are free after the standard gate fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $10 per out-of-state vehicle.
Program support is made possible by the Friends of Indiana Dunes group.
