CHESTERTON | With April being Autism Awareness month, James O'Connor Martial Arts O'Connor is doing whatever we can to spread awareness and raise funds. We are sponsoring a "Paper Flower Garden" that is displayed in our front window. Students, parents, families, and friends can make a donation with a "Paper Flowers" for $1, and all funds will go towards Rett Syndrome & Girl Power 2 Cure. Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological form of Autism that only affects girls. This month at Team O'Connor we will be incorporating lessons into our classes for our students about how to befriend and interact with other children with special needs and how to use their Leadership skills to facilitate those relationships further amongst other friends. On April 20, from 10-12, we will have a Leadership Class for our Leadership students where special guest Zoe will come and we will celebrate with bubbles. If you are interested in supporting our garden, call 219-926-5534 or visit at 534 Broadway.
