PINE TOWNSHIP | Three LaPorte County residents were arrested Monday after a homeowner captured images of the burglary on trail cameras set up around the house.
Autumn Henn, 28, of Michigan City, was charged with burglary, two drug-related charges and an outstanding warrant. Ryan Bailey, 26, Michigan City, and Travis Sheblosky, 22, of LaPorte, were charged with aiding in a burglary.
The officer investigating the burglary was able to arrest the trio when they arrived at a pawn shop where the officer was investigating an earlier burglary from the same house.
Police were called about 4 p.m. to a home in the 300 East block on U.S. 20. The homeowner told police his home on Monday had been burglarized making it the third time within a month. Because of the previous burglaries, the homeowner put up trail cameras around the house.
Those cameras took photos of a woman entering the home and leaving with a box of DVDs. It also captured images of two other people with her and the vehicle they were in.
The homeowner told police he had recently bought back an air compressor from a Michigan City pawn shop that had been taken during an earlier burglary.
The investigating officer went to the pawn shop to develop leads on the earlier burglary when a vehicle matching the vehicle in the photos pulled into the parking lot.
Police said the the occupants of the vehicle matched the descriptions of those people he saw in the trail camera photos.
According to police, Henn initially said she had not been in Porter County on Monday, then told the officer that she had been to the home, but had permission from the homeowner to enter the home and take the items.
All three were taken into custody. Police said Henn was in possession of a hypodermic needle and drugs.
According to detectives, Henn later said she did not have permission to be in the home and she took DVDs and an envelope full of money. She told detectives she used the cash to buy heroin in Chicago.
