Fire destroys home under construction in Porter

Porter Fire Chief Lewis Craig Sr. looks over the damage to a three-bedroom house Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of Sunset Avenue. The home caught fire Tuesday night, and drew response from 10 local fire departments that poured nearly 40,000 gallons of water on the fire. The owner, who was alerted to the fire by a sister living about a block away, said he was just preparing to move in this weekend after finishing construction of the brand new home.
