PORTER | A Lake Station man was arrested Tuesday night after police said he failed to stop at a stop sign, drove through a yard and struck a house.
Donald Nicholas Potrebic, 35, faces several drunken driving charges.
Police said Potrebic’s GMC Envoy skidded through the intersection of Old Porter Road and Mineral Springs Road, went up an embankment, struck the corner of a home coming to rest on its side.
Witnesses who were riding a motorized scooter in the area told police Potrebic nearly struck them near that intersection, before speeding around them and slamming into the house.
No one in the house was injured.
Police said Potrebic said he had three drinks prior to the crash. He had a blood alcohol content of .19 percent – more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent.
