Theft. Esther Walter reported a $400 log splitter stolen from the rear of some property in the 500 block of east County Road 300 South.
PORTAGE
SUNDAY
Arrest. Sergey Cherezov, 45, who has addresses in Portage and Valparaiso, was arrested at 12:08 a.m. on charges of drunken driving, resisting and leaving the scene of an accident. Police responded to Central Avenue and Parkview Road to look for a car that fled a crash scene, and police said Cherezov nearly crashed into an officer before the officer turned around and stopped him.
Arrest. Aaron Wilhelm, 36, of Iowa, who has been living at 6888 U.S. 20, Lot 11, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. on initial charges of battery, strangulation, criminal mischief, resisting and interference with reporting a crime. Police allege he battered and choked his girlfriend, then smashed her car's windshield and broke her cellular phone so she couldn't call police.

SATURDAY
Theft. Oregon Road resident Barbara Prentiss reported the theft from her backyard of a $200 shed, a $90 ladder, an $80 bench, an $80 outdoor fireplace, a $20 tub and a $50 mower.
MONDAY
Theft. North County Road 450 West resident Gerald Dennis reported the theft of $1,055 worth of electronics, DVDs and compact discs from his recreational vehicle.

Theft. Kenneth Miller, of Elm Tree Lane in Lakes of the Four Seasons, reported someone stole from his vehicle a $700 duffel bag which contained $3,950 worth of jewelry, a $4,500 Rolex watch, an $850 laptop computer, an $850 iPad, a $250 GPS unit, $90 boots and $80 worth of clothing.
MONDAY
Theft. California Avenue resident Rhonda Alleman reported her purse stolen from her vehicle. The loss is $40.

SUNDAY
Theft. Wilshire Court resident Gerald Lusinski reported his boat trailer was stolen, but was located nearby. He also reported the license plate is gone from the trailer.

SATURDAY
Burglary. Winchester Drive resident Johnnie Luckey reported someone keeps entering her apartment and stealing her medication.
Arrest. Valparaiso police investigated a vehicle parked at Kirchoff Park, 400 Roosevelt Road, after hours and arrested the passenger, John Larson, 19, of Valparaiso, on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
SUNDAY
Vandalism. Police said someone wrote graffiti on the playground equipment at Banta Senior Center, 605 Beech St. The damage is $50.
