BURNS HARBOR | Local firefighters battled a blaze Sunday at ArcelorMittal.

Porter Fire Department Chief Lewis Craig Sr. said his department was dispatched to the scene at 2:45 p.m. He said the fire was started by a busted gas line in the basement of the car dumper.

He said the department left the scene by 6:30 p.m.

Officials did not say Sunday night how much damage the fire created. Along with the mill's fire department and Porter Fire Department, several other agencies, including Burns Harbor and Washington Township, were at the scene as well.

ArcelorMittal could not immediately be reached Sunday for comment.
