VALPARAISO | Porter Regional Hospital announced Friday the redesign and expansion of the outpatient laboratory at its Glendale Medical Center, 1101 E. Glendale Blvd., is completed.

The change placed the outpatient lab at the front of the building for easier access and more than doubled its square footage to accommodate patients better and reduce waiting times. The new lab features four patient rooms along with advanced testing capabilities and equipment.

Brian Sinotte, the hospital's chief operating officer, said the expansion and relocation will help the medical center meet the increased demand for outpatient lab services.

"Our lab services are dedicated to performing patient testing quickly and conveniently," Sinotte said. "Additionally, the new Glendale lab design provides a calm, relaxing environment, which can help make for a more positive patient experience while getting tests done."

Porter hospital operates six labs throughout its system, performing more than a million procedures a year, including approximately 900 lab tests as well as blood bank services. All blood and blood products are provided through the American Red Cross.

The labs are overseen by a board-certified clinical pathologist and staffed by 100 associates. The labs have earned state and national recognition. The Glendale Medical Center lab is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. For more information, call the outpatient lab at (219) 464-0232.
