Valparaiso Community Festivals and Events presents downtown trick or treat night from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 23. There will be free hayrides provided by the Valparaiso Parks Department.

The Portage Township YMCA will hold a Halloween Party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23. Cost is $5 per family for members and $10 for families who are nonmembers.

WITCHES BREW HA! HA! | Valparaiso

The Witches Brew Ha! Ha! will be performed at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and again at 10 a.m. Oct. 24 at the Memorial Opera House, 104 Indiana Ave. Tickets are $8 per person.

Salem United Methodist Church will have a Halloween party and costume contest for the church and community at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at 756 W. County Road 350 South. There will be treats, prizes, Frankenstein-furters and witches brew. The cost is $5 per family. Make reservations by Oct. 17.

HAUNTED TRAILS | Porter County

Region 2 LaPorte and Porter County Abate presents the Haunted Trails of Sunset Hills Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31. Gates open at 6 p.m. at Sunset Hill Farm County Park. First tractor out at 6:30 p.m. and last tractor out at 10:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person; children 6 and younger are free. There will be a concession stand with food, drinks and a bake sale.

The Portage Tri-Kappa sorority will hold its 14th annual Halloween Fest from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Oakwood Grand Ballroom at Woodland Park. This is for ages 2 to 12 and they must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $6 per child. There will be games, prizes, crafts, treat bags, hot dogs, chips, drinks and dessert.

Haunted hayride will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 22, 23 and 24 at Woodland Park. New this year will be a pumpkin patch, pumpkin bowling, apple cider and balloon artist. The Portage Community Theatre will have two nightly shows on the same days of the hayride at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Cost is $5 a person.


Golden Living of Valparaiso's annual Halloween party is 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 24. Come with your Halloween costume and a bag for candy.

Enjoy games, food and prizes at 251 Sturdy Road.

A pumpkin and costume contest will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Blue Spruce Room at Woodland Park. All children under the ages of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Register by Oct. 21. Cost is $5 a child.

TRICK OR TREAT | Valparaiso

Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center, 606 Wall St., will host its annual Community Halloween Trick or Treat night at 6 p.m. Oct. 28, until the candy is gone.

Halloween Family Night is set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the South Haven Library, 403 W. County Road 700 North. Wear costumes, listen to scary stories, make spooky crafts and eat sweet treats during Halloween Family Night. Coat is $2 per person.

A Halloween costume dance for seniors begins at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Miller's Senior Living Community, 5911 Lute Road. The event is free and open to the public. Costumes welcomed.

The Hebron national Junior Honor Society will sponsor a Hebron Haunted House from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for younger kids Oct. 29 and 7:30 to 10 p.m. for anyone. On Oct. 30 times are 7:30 to 10 p.m.. The lights will be off and lots of scaring will take place. The cost of the haunted house is $5 for adults, $3 for students and $1 per person during kid time on Oct. 29. all proceeds are used to help Angel Tree families within Hebron. Last year we raised over $3,000 which we used to help families on local Angel Trees. Use the middle school concession stand entrance.

Diamond Plaza on U.S. 6 in front of the IMAX Theater will be hosting a Trick or Treat Halloween event from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 31. The event will include a moonwalk, candy, food, games, giveaways and chances to win movie tickets. There is no cost to attend the event and is being sponsored by the businesses of Diamond Plaza and the Portage 16 IMAX.
