Back to School Health Fair begins Monday

NorthShore Health Centers will hold its annual Back to School Health Fair Monday through Aug. 6.

The yearly event spotlights children's physicals and dental health. School and sports physicals will be available for all children preschool age through 12th grade for the reduced price of $25. Each child will then receive a backpack full of school supplies free.

Reduced priced dental exams and cleanings will be available at the dental locations and each child will receive a free spin brush.

NorthShore Health Centers will sponsor the event at the Scottsdale location at 3564 Scottsdale St., and the Stacy McKay Health and Education Center, 6450 U.S. 6, both in Portage, as well as the Lake Station Medical Center, 2490 Central Ave., and the Rivera Dental Center, 3099 Central Ave., both in Lake Station.

The fair will be held Monday through Friday at each location from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Interested parents should call (219) 763-8112.

Representatives from MDwise and Anthem will be on hand during the fair at the Scottsdale and Lake Station locations to give updated information to patients on their Medicaid programs. Educational information on health and nutrition will be available all week long at all locations.

NorthShore gave away 1,200 backpacks in 2009 during last year's Back to School Fair.
