HEBRON | A DeMotte woman was charged with multiple offenses Monday morning after police found her drunk in a car being driven by her child, who did not have a license.

Jennifer Mehay, 36, of the 500 block of Elm Court in DeMotte was arrested and charged at 7:10 a.m. with neglect of a dependent, battery to law enforcement, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication and disorderly conduct, Hebron police said.

A Hebron police officer on routine patrol saw a green Monte Carlo driving over concrete barriers and through the grassy median that separates the Maxwell Street apartments and Hebron Lanes at 19 Maxwell St.

The officer stopped the vehicle and found an unlicensed 15-year-old boy at the wheel.

Mehay, the boy's mother, was in the passenger seat and intoxicated, police said.

The officer told Mehay to stay in her vehicle while he questioned her son. Police said Mehay allegedly became combative and scratched and kicked the officer.

Two other officers arrived at the scene and took Mehay into custody.
