KOUTS | The Kankakee Valley Historical Society will hold its March general meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the Kouts Public Library, 101 E. Daumer Road.

Fran Harty will present "Overview of the Greater Kankakee Ecosystem."

Her talk will touch on the Kankakee Torrent, Grand Kankakee Marsh, the Pottawatomie, Hubbard’s Trace, the Original Government Land Survey, biogeography of the Kankakee Sands, mussels in the Kankakee River, natural communities, its unusual wildlife communities and its rare and endangered wildlife species.

The meeting is open to the public.
