KOUTS | Police here are investigating a suspicious incident reported Wednesday about a girl being approached by a man in a truck.

Kouts police said a female Kouts Middle School student was approached about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Mentor and Main Street, near County Folks Pizza, by a man in a pickup truck.

According to police, the driver asked the girl if she wanted a ride to Kouts High School. He told the girl that he was going to the school to watch Morgan Township High School play in the girls basketball sectional.

The man was described as white, in his mid 40s with balding dark hair. The pickup truck was blue/gray and taller than a standard pickup.

The girl refused the offer of a ride, and the man drove away.

The Kouts police are not treating this as an attempted abduction, but want parents and residents to be aware of this incident.

Anyone with information about the man, should call Sgt. Dale Marshall at the Kouts Police Department at (219) 766-2332.
