VALPARAISO — Porter County government is putting more traffic warning lights in place, this time at Meridian Road and County Road 950 North in Liberty Township.
As with the others, the lights are being installed in response to numerous accidents at the intersection, according to Porter County Commissioner Jim Biggs, R-North.
The solar-powered lights will flash yellow along Meridian Road and red for traffic approaching along 950 North, he said.
The lights will cost $12,000 and be funded with proceeds from the cable franchise fee, Biggs said.
The county has installed the same types of warning lights at Meridian Road and County Road 700 North in Liberty Township, and McCool Road and County Road 875 North in Portage Township.
