VALPARAISO | Firefighters are investigating the cause of an apartment fire Tuesday afternoon at the Hunter's Pointe complex on Vale Park Road.

Firefighters could be seen battling the blaze in a second level bedroom of the apartment as smoke and water poured out a rear window.

Valparaiso police Sgt. Michael Grennes said no one was injured in the blaze and it was contained to the one unit.

Diane Gray, who lives just a few doors down from the site of the fire, said she was walking out of her unit when she heard the alarm sound.

She said the three children who live at the site of the fire were already out of the building.

A large group of residents, may of whom had been swimming, gathered in the bright sun and heat to watch firefighters.

"I hope it didn't go as far as mine," Gray said referring to the fire reaching her unit.
