WESTVILLE | The Purdue University North Central Odyssey 2009-10 Arts and Cultural Events Series continues its "Year of the Photographer" series with "A Mythical Reality" by Mel Theobald, presented Jan. 11 through May 15 in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02. It is free and open to the public, but reservations for viewing are required.

This show features 23 photos, which are up to eight feet in width. They are presented by means of lightjet technologies, which preserve details of architecture and environment in extreme detail. The photos will be available for purchase.

Theobald is a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has been a conservator, painter and professor of art history. His work has been shown throughout the Midwest. His worked has also earned a number of awards.

Theobald was involved in the identification and recovery of many noted works of mostly early 20th century Russian art which had been "sorted" and abandoned in warehouses in Russia. He was instrumental in returning and rescuing works which had been stolen and sold on the illegal market worldwide.
