A robber with a wig, fake beard, fake mustache and real handgun stole cash and cellphones from the T-Mobile store at 2410 LaPorte Ave. in Valparaiso in broad daylight Sunday afternoon, police said.

The Valparaiso Police Department is asking for any information about the suspect, who was described by employees as about 6 feet tall and approximately 150 pounds. The robber was wearing a gray wig, a fake gray beard, an oversized fake mustache and a baseball cap, and got away in a silver or gray compact Toyota that was possibly a Corolla.

Police say a man came into the store in a strip mall near the Target on the city's east side with a silver-colored handgun, and demanded cash and phones at 3:22 p.m. Sunday

"The subject fled the store with numerous cellular phones and an undetermined amount of cash," Valparaiso police said in a news release.

Security cameras caught images of the suspect and the Toyota he got into the front passenger side of while fleeing.

Anyone with information about the suspect, vehicle or robbery should call Detective Brian Thurman at the Valparaiso Police Department at 219-462-2135. Tips also can be texted to TIP411 with "Valpo" in the message field.
