Police ask for help in ID-ing vehicle theft suspect

The woman pictured above is sought as a suspect in a rash of vehicle thefts in Liberty Township in Porter County.

Police are searching for a suspect in a recent slew of vehicle thefts in unincorporated Liberty Township in Porter County, and are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman they want to question as part of their investigation.

The Porter County Sheriff's Office released security video footage of a woman that was taken at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday at the 1200 block of Aspen Drive in the Whispering Sands Mobile Home Park east of South Haven.

"There was a rash of thefts from vehicles in this Liberty Township area and we are asking for assistance in identifying this female suspect," the Porter County Sheriff's Office said in an announcement on its Facebook page. "The 'blurry' picture is posted, along with the general location, in hopes and belief that the people living in that area may be familiar with her and able to identify her and in turn contact the Sheriff's Office."

Anyone with information about the suspect or the thefts is asked to contact Porter County Sheriff's Office Detective Matthew Boone at 219-477-3131.
