VALPARAISO | A Chicago man, accused of forcing the Hebron police chief into a ditch during a high speed chase Tuesday, now faces a charge of possessing marijuana at the county jail.

A jail officer said after detecting the smell of marijuana, he strip searched Demetrius Washington and his cellmate and discovered Washington had four grams of marijuana in a bag hidden in his anus, according to a police report.

Washington reportedly told officers he found the illegal drug in the jail's main holding cell and had planned to tell a jail official.

He was taken to the jail Tuesday after being apprehended during a chase that began in Hebron and ended along Interstate 65 with the help of Lake County police.
