PORTAGE | An 18-year-old Portage man wrapped up his post-prom activities with a trip to the Porter County Jail Saturday morning.
A resident of a house in the 6800 block of Portage Avenue called police at 5:28 a.m. Saturday to report a man he didn't know was sleeping on his couch.
When police arrived they attempted to wake the man, later identified as Ryan Blakely, 18, of 6399 Meadowridge, Portage, several times.
When they were able to finally wake up Blakely, he told police that some friends had dropped him off at the house after prom the previous night and he entered the home through an unlocked garage door. He told police he thought he was at the home of a friend named Ashley who was "upstairs sleeping."
The homeowner told police not only was there no Ashley living in the home, but that he didn't have a second floor in his residence.
Police asked Blakely, who was dressed only in his underwear, if he'd been drinking after smelling alcohol on his breath.
Blakely allegedly told police after prom he and his friends took a party bus to Chicago and they were all drinking alcohol on the bus. Blakely registered a .10 blood alcohol level on a portable breath test.
Police did not find any of Blakely's clothes at the home.
Blakely was arrested and charged with residential entry and minor consumption.
