CHESTERTON | Westchester Intermediate School’s sixth-grade band presented its Spring Concert this past at the school.
Students in the group began studying their chosen instrument at the beginning of the school year, a little more than seven months ago and this event marks the third of four concerts scheduled for the WIS Band this year.
The audience was treated to four music selections including, “American Spirit March” composed by John O’Reilly; a funky rhythmic piece called “This Band Rocks!” by composer Steven Frank; “Midnight Sky” a beautiful chorale, and the group closed their performance by showing some exciting Latin flair with Julie Griffin’s “El Toro.”
The fourth and final concert on the band’s schedule will take place at 7 p.m. at WIS on May 22. Also performing in this concert will be the Westchester fifth and sixth grade orchestras.
