VALPARAISO | After days of rain, the sunshine and blue skies on July 11 were welcomed as 144 golfers stepped up to tee off at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s 33rd annual Golf Outing. Held at Forest Park Golf Course, the sold-out event was the organization’s most successful golf outing to date, raising nearly $35,000.
"Thanks to the generosity and support from so many wonderful volunteers, sponsors, businesses, participants and staff, we experienced another great tournament with the highest net income we’ve ever had,” said interim President Ryan Smiley. "This annual event continues to keep growing stronger while maintaining its many traditions spanning 33 years in Porter County."
Funds raised will be used to provide youth development programs and activities year-round for more than 4,800 members in kindergarten through 12th grade at clubs located in Portage, Chesterton, Valparaiso and South Haven as well as nine KidStop sites.
