PORTAGE | Comfort Keepers of Portage is accepting nominations for its Most Vital Senior Award.
The purpose of the award is to recognize Portage community seniors who contribute to the quality of the community through their vitality and service to the citizens of Portage.
“It is our feeling that recognition is important and many seniors provide a very important role in service through work, volunteering and being a role model/mentor to others of all ages in the community,” said Charlie Moore, owner of the local Comfort Keepers office.
“This is the second year for the award. We felt that there was a need to recognize seniors in the Portage community for their contributions that enhance quality of life. Comfort Keepers celebrated their 10th year in the Portage Community last year and we wanted to initiate the award as part of that celebration and continue with the award going forward.”
Nomination forms are available at many locations throughout Portage including the Portage Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, Parks and Recreation Department, Portage Library and Bonner Senior Center. The forms can also be faxed or emailed. Contact Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org or 877-711-9800.
Nominations are due back to Comfort Keepers by April 5. They can be mailed or delivered to: Comfort Keepers, 2664 Willowcreek Road, Unit C, Portage, IN 46368.
Candidates are nominated by the public and the winners are selected by a group of representatives from the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Senior Affairs. Awards are presented for First Place, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up and each receive a plaque. The awards are presented at the Portage Senior Health Fair on May 2 at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road.
